Multi View Technical details

Normally 3D Images are rendered for a single person from a single virtual camera. For a correct 3D View it is required that the position of the person and the virtual camera are identical. This is normally realized by using a tracked "master" person. Additional persons viewing the scene are obviously not in the same position and receiving distorted images. This makes discussion on 3D content impossible.

To discuss on 3D content every persion has to be tracked and a virtual camera has to render their correct view. In EU FP7 research project IMVIS a Multi View system had been developed which allows six persions to correctly see 3D content on a large (3x5m) screen in high resolution (1900x1200 Pixel , WUXGA).

Our system provides up to 12 views for stereoscopic images of 6 persons.
These are seen through specially developed radio controlled high speed shutter glasses.

The number of images can be dynamically changed from mono up to 12 different images to supportt different user groups and increase image brightness for VIP persons. Glasses can be automatically controlled to turn off, when users do not look on the screen.

digital IMAGE 3D CIx6 display is a EU FP7 framework project.

Our Demo System is located at University in Weimar.
